Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Darna,
Krystala, etc. They will never be my hero. Not a single chance. When I was a
kid, I may idolize Batman but I don’t consider him as my hero. Aside from him
being a fictional character, I have the hero of my life since the day I was born.
Josephine Contemprato Angeles. Not a famous
person, not as intelligent as Albert Einstein nor as rich as Bill Gates, but
she plays a great part in my life. She’s my protector, my idol and my best
friend. The daughter of Virgilio and Lourdes Contemprato, third of five
children, she’s a very adventurous-seeking girl and a strong-hearted one. She’s a girl of the house and a very caring and loving mother to two
now. Since she was an ankle-biter,
their family was not wealthy. Her father needed to work far from home to keep
their family eating. In school, she wouldn't buy at the canteen to save her
money. She often walks to and from school. After graduating in high school, she took a
vocational course and applied for a job. She managed to graduate as a working
student and continued her work to support her younger siblings. Amazing, isn’t
she?
She’s the most wonderful person I've known.
Next to my love for God, she’ll always be the one I’ll love most. Even more
than my life. She never fails to take care of us and attend our needs. I was
with her since I was born and I can say that she knows me more than I know
myself.
Once, I was having a terrible
headache and I can’t sleep. Even though she was busy, she attended me first, made me take my meds and lulled me to sleep. Little did she know
that I was not able to sleep well that I felt her leaving the room. I tried
turning and flipping on my bed but I still can’t sleep. After a
while, I found the right position and again tried to sleep, but my mom entered
the room. Thinking I was asleep, she carefully lifted my head to her lap and
massaged my head. It eased the pain and I was able to sleep well. That’s how
she takes care of us.
She’s the person I’ll always want to be
when I grow up. Caring, loving and understanding. I will never ask another
person to be my mom. She may be scolding me (I know it’s my fault) or she may
be hot-headed and moody at times, but all I've got to do is to understand her.
She’ll always be the best and the perfect mom besides her imperfections
and flaws.
She is
my mom, the hero of my life.
